KeryFlex Nail Restoration Aftercare

The proper aftercare of newly restored nails is vital to its durability and longevity. The better care given to the new nail, the nicer it will look and longer it will last.

✓ As your natural nail(s) grow, use a nail file to maintain a normal nail length.

✗ Do not file the surface of a KeryFlex nail.

✗ Do not cut or clip a KeryFlex nail.

If your foot care provider has recommended a topical antifungal, apply as directed around the edges of a KeryFlex nail and on the cuticles.

✗ Do not apply it directly to the surface of a KeryFlex nail as it will not penetrate.

✗ Stop use of the topical antifungal within 2–3 days prior to your next KeryFlex application.

✓ Disinfect footwear as recommended by your foot care provider.

Aftercare Advice

Gently file down any cracks or chips at the tip of a KeryFlex nail.

If you are physically active (e.g. runner, dancer, etc.), let your foot care provider know. Strenuous activity may create repeated trauma and place undue stress on a KeryFlex nail. This may shorten the lifespan of a KeryFlex nail and reapplication may be needed more frequently.

Comfortable and properly fitted footwear is recommended.

Speak to your foot care provider for more information in getting the most out of your KeryFlex nail(s).

What to Expect?

Chipping and cracking at the tip of a KeryFlex nail may occur 2 or 3 weeks after initial application and is considered normal wear and tear.

This may be due to:

• Tight footwear, especially in the toe area, causing friction between the inner shoe and the KeryFlex nail.

• Physical strain and stress on the nail.

• Growth of the natural nail and length of a KeryFlex nail as it extends past the tip of the toe.

Lifting will occur and is to be expected when an individual has a smaller natural nail segment. You will need to keep this nail filed short and most likely return to your provider every 2 to 4 weeks for evaluation and/or possible reapplication.

Additional Information for Individuals with a Smaller/Shorter Natural Nail

A provider may extend a KeryFlex nail beyond your existing nail edge to give your new nail a more full and complete appearance.

Since KeryFlex is designed to be flexible and only bonds to a natural nail, you may experience lifting along the nail’s edge. This can occur and should be expected when an individual has a smaller or shorter existing nail.

What to Do?

✓ Keep your KeryFlex nail filed short to minimize the possibility of lifting.

✓ Take steps to ensure your toes and nails are dried well following water exposure (e.g. bathing, swimming).

✓ Return to your provider every 2 to 4 weeks for evaluation and/or possible reapplication.

✓ Consider a disinfecting foot soak (e.g. 1 part white vinegar in 2 parts mild water).

Additional Information

If a KeryFlex nail failed to properly bond to your natural nail, it will typically occur within the first 3 days following the application. Should this occur, contact your foot care provider.

KeryFlex will NOT fully adhere to the nail bed if NO natural nail is present. KeryFlex allows the existing nail to grow out as expected.

Once properly cured, a KeryFlex nail is unaffected by water, soaps, acetone, oils and/or standard nail polish.

Nail polish may be applied immediately after a KeryFlex application is complete. Light-cured gel nail polishes, topcoats, or any other nail products requiring a UV or LED light are NOT recommended.

KeryFlex has been formulated with ingredients to protect against potential sun damage and yellowing.

There have been reports that salt water combined with excessive UV light exposure (e.g. sunbathing) can alter the color of the KeryFlex. While these results have not been replicated, it should be noted.

Removal

A KeryFlex nail becomes permanently bound to the natural nail. To remove the nail, a foot care provider can file off a KeryFlex nail utilizing an electric file until it is no longer attached to the natural nail.

Reapplication

KeryFlex reapplication should be 6–8 weeks after the initial application. However, each individual case is unique and follow-up depends on various factors, including:

• The health, condition and length of the underlying natural nail.

• The growth rate of the natural nail.

Refrain from using any products on the natural nail 2–3 days prior to a KeryFlex procedure as this may affect the bond between a KeryFlex nail and the existing nail.

Important Safety Information

KeryFlex Nail Restoration is not for everyone. It should not be used on individuals with:

• Peripheral vascular disease
• Arterial insufficiency
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Suspicious pigmented lesions on the nail
• Ingrown toenails

It should be avoided in patients who are pregnant, nursing, or known to be sensitive or allergic to any of its ingredients.

If you notice redness, itching or irritation around your KeryFlex nail, contact your foot care provider for guidance.

KeryFlex is not a cure for fungal nails. It is an aesthetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of toenails damaged by fungus and other nail disorders.
